MOLO G in Portoferraio is a portside tavern located within the Esaom shipyard on the island of Elba. It offers a genuine and sincere seafood cuisine.
It was born 10 years ago from the love and passion for genuine and quality food by Pietro Olivari and Luca Saglimbeni.
The two friends chose to create a haven of taste in this unconventional place that had been closed for a while. And so, they breathed new life into it.
The basic idea is to eat, especially good fish, while admiring the hulls of all sizes docked at the "G" dock, the taut fenders, the sails ready to set sail... imagining arrivals and departures.

THE PLACE

The place is very unique. It resembles the bazaar of a port city. Old objects that evoke the sea hang from the walls of a large, bright warehouse.
The tables have marble tops, as was customary in the taverns of the Livornese province. The chairs are all different from each other.
Every object contributes to making the tavern imaginative and fun. Never ordinary. Just like the menu, written with chalks on a large blackboard.
It′s an ideal place even just for sipping a good glass of wine on comfortable sofas that seem to have come from the deck of a brigantine. In the summer, lunch and dinner are served directly on the pier.
THE CUISINE
The cuisine is typically Elban with some contemporary pairings. It definitely focuses on the quality of raw materials, both from the sea and the land. Of course, the choice depends on the seasons, but especially on what the Tyrrhenian Sea offers, absolutely not using farm-raised fish in the tavern. These always fresh daily ingredients, such as fish and shellfish traditionally consumed on an island that housed the tuna fisheries, are paired with land products from the internal hilly areas to create dishes rich in taste and that preserve the memory of traditions. The wine list is mostly composed of local wines, but you can appreciate some good national and foreign labels.
STARTERS

The Elban Tuna is certainly a trademark. It is served desalted with cherry tomatoes, raw friggitelli (a type of pepper), basil, extra virgin olive oil, and red onions from Patresi. You should also try the fried Tirreno anchovies.
FIRST COURSES

Highly requested are the fusillone with squid ragout and pacchero with local spider crab. But there are many unmissable specialties like pici with cheese, pepper, and mussels.
SEDOND COURSES

Particularly appreciated by customers is the blue fish, as well as tuna and bonito, accompanied by cuttlefish and squid and the dock′s fried seafood. Among the most requested dishes is certainly the grilled octopus with potatoes.
DESSERTS

All homemade every day and respectful of tradition: from the pear and chocolate cake to tiramisu, to almond biscotti to be enjoyed with Elba′s Aleatico wine.

Our fish preserves

The Tonnina is the typical dish of Elban fishermen. They used to prepare it with the less valuable parts of the tuna, but no less flavorful for that reason. It was also used by farmers to season bread and tomatoes or boiled potatoes.
Salt and patience, indeed, the ingredients, in addition to the fish. Rediscovering it and re-proposing it in a more refined version made of real tuna fillets and bluefish, was a tribute to the island.
The processing of the raw material is strictly controlled to create canned fish with ancient flavors. The humble but substance-rich fish reigns supreme (from anchovies to little tunny), with high nutritional values, treated in the old-fashioned way, in brine or in oil.
You can find the appealing and colorful packaging of the various products in the best gastronomies and wineries on the island, but you can also taste them in some niche shops on the "mainland".
